Miracles happen every day…

Miracles happen every day. Babs Zuhowski, new Executive Director at PHS, reports on one she witnessed 11.14.16:

While standing in the check-out line at our local Walmart Supercenter, I struck up a conversation with the kind stranger in front of me. Holidays, friends, and family were the topics we chatted about and she shared an incredible story of how her family chooses not to exchange gifts during the holidays. Instead, she donates to charities, and mentioned “the local Humane Society.” “What a coincidence,” I said, “I’m Babs Zuhowski and I am the new Executive Director for Portsmouth Humane Society. Thank you for being one of our donors!” We shook hands and she introduced herself – Amy Griffin. “I’m actually shopping here today for PHS” (gestured to all the dog food and cleaning supplies on the conveyor belt). Without even missing a beat, Amy said, “Well, put your money away, I am paying for your stuff!”

Thank you, Amy Griffin, for your random act of human kindness! You fed our dogs for a few nights and helped us keep the kennels and cages clean. Pictured here with Amy is the lovely Walmart cashier, Ms. Brenda Peebles. Thank you Amy, you are a blessing!
