Community Resource Manager

Overview

The essential role of the Community Resource Manager (CRM) is the management and oversight of the operations of the Community Resource Team (CRT), including providing supervisory support to the Community Resource Technicians and Front Office Assistants. The CRM is responsible for administrative oversight of the foster program and coordinates fostering scheduling and review of foster applications. The ideal CRM is optimistic, forward-thinking, and willing to try new approaches to assist clients with pet care and ownership. The CRM is responsible for promoting positive, productive, compassionate interactions between staff and the public.

  • Must be comfortable handling dogs, cats, and other small animals of varying sizes and temperaments

  • Support the execution of administrative duties by the CRT at the direction of the Community Engagement and Development Director
  • Foster positivity and understanding with regard to members of the public regardless of the circumstances of their visit to the shelter
  • Ability to work with and lead volunteers

  Administrative
  • Provides guidance to the CRT when handling incoming calls/e-mails regarding placement of pets for re-homing, providing counseling on alternatives to intake and schedules intake appointments, and working with shelter leadership team to understand shelter’s dynamic census
  • Ensures all interactions with the public are led with compassion and sensitivity,
  • Ensures accurate completion of Portsmouth Humane paperwork including veterinary records, animal custody records, bite reports, personality profiles, daily and weekly deposits and cash handling practices
  • Oversees the timely scheduling of fostered pets for routine and surgical veterinary appointments and communicates with leadership about gaps in the surgical schedule.
  • Maintains a list of available foster homes for placement of pets in need of immediate foster placement
  • Works with entire Portsmouth Humane team to place animals in foster care to meet shelter needs, communicates concerns from foster parents about the health and behavior of their foster pets to leadership when needed
  • Coordinates and completes transfer of pets to and from the PetSmart Adoption Center
  • Establishes and oversee the maintenance of pet ownership support programs (ex: pet food and supply pantry)
  • Works closely with the CEDD to design, fund, and implement outreach initiatives that elevate animal welfare standards, improve access to pet care, and strengthen the connection between Portsmouth Humane and its community
  • Participate in outreach events and regional meetings on behalf of Portsmouth Humane
  • Support the CEDD with administrative support
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work in an environment with loud noises and some strong smells
  • Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors year round
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Ability to work around pet dander, dust, and other allergens
