Volunteering as a Group at PHS

Church groups, military organizations,  Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, school groups, corporate groups, and many more are an important part of accomplishing the mission of PHS. Many times, our special events and everyday operations would not be as successful without the aid of groups such as these. We welcome groups to come to the shelter and help us clean and socialize with the animals on a scheduled basis. Volunteers must be 10 years and older to help at the shelter, and our young helpers need to accompanied by an adult if they are between the ages of 10 and 15 years old

There are a number of different things groups can do to help. If you have any creative ideas, suggestions, or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the shelter!

Here are some suggestions about how groups can help PHS:

Corporate Groups:
Organize fundraising and donation drives
Organize a volunteer morning where we put you to work in the shelter
Organize a special event involving shelter animals

Youth groups (schools, churches, Scouts):
Make toys for the kitties
Make scratching posts for the kitties
Make beds for the animals out of old blankets, pillows, and fleece
Make homemade dog treats
Organize a fundraiser or donation drive for shelter needs
Make frozen treats for the dogs
Schedule a tour of the shelter and learn about how to keep animals safe, then share the info with your parents and friends
